As we wrap up 2024, we are taking a moment to celebrate the incredible journey of GASP! Sessions. Throughout our series, we have explored a rich tapestry of topics, sparked meaningful conversations, and welcomed an array of fascinating guests. Our mission was to bring our listeners a thought-provoking podcast designed to challenge, inspire, and entertain, and we think we did exactly that.
Here’s a brief look back at each of our GASP! Sessions to revisit your favourite moments or discover episodes you may have missed.
Episode 1: Behind the Canvas with Lyndsey Hall and Kevin King
Lyndsey Hall, Head of Digital Communications & Strategy at Piquant and Kevin King, Design Director at Piquant give their insight into what it means to be working in Ireland’s digital creative industry. Lyndsey and Kevin chat about the recently launched 'Ireland’s Roadmap for the Digital Creative Industries' along with the World Economic Forum ‘Future of Jobs’ report giving their personal thoughts and insights. In the second episode of GASP! Sessions ‘Behind the Canvas’ feature, Róisín Buckley interviews Hugh Heffernan, Head of Brand & Strategy at Piquant and Conor Buckley, Creative Director at Piquant about their creative processes, their sources of inspiration, and the stories of taking creative projects from a client’s brief to reality.
Episode 3: IDI Spotlight with Charlotte Barker and Kevin King
Róisín Buckley sits down with Kevin King, Design Director at Piquant, and Charlotte Barker, CEO of the Institute of Designers Ireland (IDI). They discuss the pivotal work of the IDI, its impact on Ireland's design industry, and their exciting plans for the future.
Episode 4: Space for Creative Digital Innovation with Ainslie Peters
Róisín Buckley sits down with Ainslie Peters, Programme & Community Manager at CREW Digital, to discuss Galway's newest creative and innovation hub. Ainslie shares her journey from managing youth camps in Canada to leading digital innovation projects in Ireland, and talks about the exciting developments and community-driven initiatives happening at CREW Digital.
Episode 5: Celebrating Irish Design Week with Tom Watts
In anticipation of Irish Design Week 2024, the GASP! Sessions welcomed Tom Watts, Head of Design at the Design and Crafts Council Ireland, for a deep dive into the festival’s significance and programming. Hosted by Róisín Buckley, Company Director at Piquant, the conversation explored this year's theme, "Imagination for Opportunity," which underscored the role of design in tackling pressing local and global issues. Irish Design Week took place on the 11th-15th of November 2024.
Episode 6: Designing Tomorrow with John Lynch Founder & Director at Context Studio
Conor Buckley sits down with John Lynch, Founder & Director of Context Studio, to discuss the dynamic world of service design and its impact on businesses and public sectors. John shares his journey from Ireland to Denmark and the UK, breaking down the difference between design thinking and service design, and offering valuable insights on how service design drives innovation and measurable change.
