Student Salon du Chat

Student Salon du Chat - Curated networking with industry professionals

Salon du Chat came to GASP! but this time it was for students. Adding a touch of theatre and the surreal to professional networking, Salon du Chat invited students to take a seat with a creative industry professional, have a coffee and choose conversations from a menu of stimulating topics.

Students sat at tables in groups of 3 to 5 and had the opportunity to chat in an informal and comfortable setting with senior professionals who had extensive experience and knowledge of the creative industries. The Salon du Chat menu was the ideal conversation starter for sparking discussions with the creative professionals about their experiences in the industry, their recommendations for graduates, job opportunities, the work environment and more.

Salon du Chat featured industry professionals from across the creative disciplines and was open to students studying creative and digital-focused courses such as design, media, UX, animation, web development, film production, and broadcasting.

The industry professionals who joined were: Andrew Warner (Director of Design at Maverick), Charlotte Baker (CEO of Institute Designers Ireland), Sarah Sherlock (Senior Art Director, Events and Campaigns, EMEA at Salesforce), Victoria Brunetta (Graphic Designer at Piquant), Iain Slater (Founder and Managing Director of Slater), Gillian Horan (CEO and Founder of The Pudding), Rachael Power (Crew Academy Manager - South at National Talent Academies - Film in Limerick), Robin Foley (Founder and Creative Director of Hurrah Hurrah), Garrett Reil (Advisor to Branding Agencies and Brand Owners), Rory Bradley (Design Lecturer at IADT), Lyndsey Hall (Head of Digital Communications & Strategy at Piquant), and Hugh Heffernan (Head of Brand & Strategy at Piquant).

Salon du Chat offered chat, without the chit. It was networking but in a comfortable, curated, and inspiring setting. GASP! Salon du Chat was supported by Creative Futures Academy and TUS FactoryXChange.
